Big Kahunas Water Park

Big Kahunas has both a water park and an adventure park.  Each park has a separate entry fee.  The water park has over 40 attractions and caters to all ages from kiddie pools to thrilling water rides.  We spent an entire day in the water park and our favorite rides were the Maui Pipeline Speed Slides, Tiki River Run and the Jumanji.  The adventure park has 3 miniature golf courses, a Grand Prix raceway, a Super Speed Raceway, a Sky Coaster and an arcade.

The Track

The Track is one of our favorite places to go with the kids.  Discount tickets are usually available at the visitor center and I highly recommend them as it can be an expensive evening.  We love the go-kart  rides!  Our kids love the family go-kart rides as they are tall enough to drive but the Wooden Track ride is probably the most fun.  Both miniature golf courses are a lot of fun as well.  The bumper boats are also fun and will get you soaked!  There is an arcade, kiddie rides, and some adult thrill rides too.

The Track Family Recreation Center in Destin, Florida

Emerald Coast Science Center

A museum for children and families filled with more than 250 touchable, interactive exhibits that teach about natural phenomena and basic scientific principles.  Great for a rainy day!

The Gulfarium

Fun and educational for the family.  Shows featuring Dolphins, Sea Lions, Multi-Species show, feeding demonstrations and animal exhibits.  We recommend going early in the day or on a cooler day as it is mostly in the open air and can get quite warm during mid day.

Gator Beach

Gator Beach provides a fun family adventure! It is located at Fudpucker's restaurant in Destin.  Grab a great hamburger for lunch or dinner, feed the alligators and have your photo taken with a live gator! They also have educational alligator shows.  The visitor center usually has coupons for free gator food so be sure to stop by there first.  It is usually fairly crowded so go early if you plan on eating there.

Okaloosa Island Pier

The Pier is within walking distance from the condo.  Bring your own fishing poles or rent them at the Pier.  It is also a great place to take a walk.  For only a dollar you can watch the Dolphins play near the Pier or see what the "Catch of the day" is.

The 6,000-piece exhibit, showcasing America’s largest collection of Southeastern Indian ceramic artifacts, journeys through 10,000 years of four prehistoric tribes. The largest Indian mound discovered along saltwater (1400 A.D.) stands guard beside the museum.

U.S. Air Force Armament Museum

Riddled with bombs, the only U.S. museum dedicated to the display of Air Force armament is "protected" by 25 reconnaissance, fighter and bomber planes such as the B-17 Flying Fortress and SR-71 Blackbird Spy Plane. Four wars -- WWII, Korean, Vietnam and Persian Gulf -- are spanned through a fighter cockpit simulator, thousands of weapons, war films, photography exhibits and more.
